NUCLEIC ACIDS KIT

This nucleic acids kit provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate differences between DNA and RNA in terms of chemical composition and internucleotide bonding. Experiments include: (1) reacting DNA, RNA, and nucleosides in the Bial?s test for pentoses and the Dische diphenylamine test for deoxyribose; (2) the acid and alkaline hydrolysis of DNA and RNA. Required, but not included: fume hood, concentrated hydrochloric acid, concentrated sulfuric acid, and glacial acetic acid. Designed for 24 students working in six groups of four.
