Seven activities take students through the examination and observation of waves, wave properties, and their influence on the coastline. Includes three demonstrations (types of waves, wave creation, and wave action) two hands on activities (regarding wave motion, sediments, and beach erosion), a research and presentation project applying science and engineering to societal issues, and a written assignment with art connections. Special emphasis on Influence of Engineering, Technology, and Science on Society and the Natural World; Human Impacts on Earth Systems; Ecosystem Dynamics, Functioning, and Resilience; The Roles of Water in Earth?s Surface Processes; and Problem Solving. Requires computers with internet connections for research projects and a document projector (optional). Designed for 24 students working in 6 groups of 4.
