Did you know that air ferns do not need soil or water to grow? How can such claims be true? Students will experiment, observe, and grow air ferns in six experiments as they develop questions, make predictions, and employ the scientific method to test hypotheses. Students learn to design experiments, use proper controls, limit variables, take proper measurements, and explain the data they collect. They will finally discover that the air fern is not what they have expected and conclude that the air fern is not a plant at all. Stereo microscope recommended. Designed for 24 students working in six groups of four.
