This vibrating atom model from Molymod visually demonstrates how atoms making up a solid (e.g. a crystal) are held together by spring-like forces.
Hold the model at arm?s length and shake lightly, and pupils will see the individual atoms vibrate and move independently due to the springs holding them together. They will aso notice that they remain in the same formation within the model, as they do in a solid.
Best used for demonstration purposes due to the ease with which the springs can be bent or misplaced.
Comprises 9 white ball atoms arranged in a 3 x 3 x 3 lattice, connected by 54 springs.
Dimensions: 185 x 185 x 185 mm
