Watching the scenes unfold on Day 2 of GESS Dubai 2017 could be compared to a dance, beautifully choreographed by animated exhibitors, intrigued attendees and vibrant speakers. It is enough to inspire you to want to take advantage of the diverse education products and services available.
Yes, the hum of productivity continues and with it many moments in which one can become inspired. From participating in the interactive CPD sessions to networking with some of the best minds in education today; finding hard to get education resources to discovering new and innovative products, there is no shortage of inspiration throughout the exhibition halls.
The Edutech Middle East Stand (I10) provided a refreshing dose of inspiration earlier today, when students from the DEWA Innovation Centre, which is located on the premises of the Dubai Rehabilitation Centre for the Disabled, visited to attend a presentation and to show off their talents in robotics.
These students, who have various mental disabilities and different levels of autism, were able to successfully collaborate with each other to enter the UAE VEX Robotics Competition for the first time this year.
The event was held on March 11, 2017 in Sharjah, and they took home the Inspire Award. Today, they beamed with joy as they operated their robots and pointed at themselves on the LCD screens at the Edutech stand.
“They are learning robotics for fun, but it helps us to understand their tactile and visual development in order to create a programme that is tailored to their needs,” said one of their teachers, Ms Shaikha Essa, “we are also able to observe how they interact and collaborate with each other.”
The students’ progress with robotics has set the pace for even more work to be done using it as a medium to improve their learning and overall development.
CEO at Edutech Middle East, Ms Shameena Parveen was very happy to host the children and proud of their accomplishment. As the sole distributor for VEX Robotics in the Middle East, the company is actively engaged in the project.
